In a unexpected partnership that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Disclosed

According to the official release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret sect.

The mission centers on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Features

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
